YSL Pop Water Collection (from left):  La Laque Couture Pop Water Nail Lacquer in Rouge Wet, Full Metal Shadow in Wet Blue, Rouge Pur Couture Le Vernis À Lèvres Pop Water  Glossy Stain in Rouge Splash
I have been using these brand new YSL products for over a month now. I have used and loved a lot of their beauty products over the years, (check out my 2014 beauty faves, where I talk more about one of my all time favourite YSL foundations). So I was really excited to try these new products out.

Rouge Pur Couture Le Vernis À Lèvres Pop Water Glossy Stain in Rouge Splash no 202

These are described as a long wearing splash of glossy colour with a translucent formula which gives a watery moisturising effect to the lips, while still providing vivid eye-catching colour. There are 12 shades in the collection ranging from nude beiges to peach and rosey tones to vibrant pinks, purples oranges and reds.
This is a orange toned pinky red shade -I have to admit that I usually steer away from any lip products that have an orange tone to them, as I never thought they would suit me ( I think it was because I was afraid that my teeth wouldn't look as white). However, I was pleasantly surprised and I absolutely love this glossy stain - not only the shade, but it's texture and wear-time too!
The applicator is very flat and quite wide with a pointed narrow tip. When you apply the first coat it is quite translucent - but once you apply a second coat you get a brighter, more pigmented look. The idea behind these pop water glossy stains is that they're supposed to give the lips sheer coverage while providing vibrant colour (it sounds strange, but it does exactly what it says and somehow works).

The formula of these glossy stains feel a little strange when you apply them for the first time. They feel very light and almost matte on the lip, with a very watery light weight texture. However once you wait a few seconds they start to feel thicker and glossier on the lips. I have found the best way to apply them is to first apply a very thin layer of product, wait a few second for the texture to change and then apply a second coat. Once I did this I found that the glossy stain lasted 5 hours plus on my lips, and didn't transfer when drinking. It lasted impressively through eating as well - although it did wear slightly but still didn't transfer or smear. It also feels comfortable and hydrating on the lips throughout the day!

The Full Metal Shadow in Wet Blue no 10 €29 -This is a metallic denim blue shade, there are 10 shades in the collection. These shadows are said to have a high concentration of pigments and pearls in a water based solution. This a liquid eyeshadow that dries down to a powder finish once it's applied. It is also said to last 16 hours without budging; although I can't quite agree with 16 hours, this shadow did last for about six and half hours (without primer) 8 hours (with primer) before it started showing signs of wear. I have found that even when it did start to wear, it only faded slightly and  didn't crease. The applicator has a curve to it which is supposed to better fit the contours of your eye for a more even application - and a pointed tip to help achieve a graphic liner look. in saying this, I found the easiest way to apply the shadow was  by using the applicator to deposit the shadow and then blending out with my fingers.

When I first got this shadow, I applied it really quickly, and probably too thickly and it had completely disappeared within 4 hours. I have discovered the trick to applying it is to apply in thin layers and let the layers dry in between (two layers gives me decent colour payoff, see above photo). I have found that if I apply it this way it doesn't crease and it lasts. Again, this would not be a colour I would have chosen myself - however I have to say surprisingly it's quite a wearable shade when paired with more neutral shadows through the crease and in the outer corner.

La Laque Couture Pop Water Nail Lacquer in no 63 Rouge Splash

La Laque Couture Pop Water Nail Lacquer in no 63 Rouge Wet €24- These nail varnishes provide a sheer wash of glossy colour but can be built up to a brighter more intense colour, however it does remain somewhat transparent. The idea behind them is that when applied they look like luminous water reflections on the nails. There are four shades to choose from ranging between orange, pink and red tones.

These nail varnishes can be worn four different ways: you can apply one coat for a hint of colour, to enhance your natural nails. A second coat can be applied for a subtle bright transparent look. A third can then be applied for a brighter, more intense, glossy finish. And finally, it can be worn as a sort of top coat over other nail varnishes.
I love how this nail varnish applies - it goes on evenly and dries very, very quickly (within 5 mins). The only issue I have with it is- it's not very long lasting on me (about 2/3 days before it starts coming off). The reason I say coming off as opposed to chipping is because I have found it doesn't chip in the way other nail varnishes do. Instead it peals off more often than not in one piece. Although the lasting power isn't fantastic, it's not a big deal to reapply, as it goes on so evenly and dries so quickly.

I think these products are perfect for summer! I really love the Rouge Pur Couture Pop Water lip colours - they're pigmented, glossy, comfortable to wear and are very long lasting. I'm going to pick up the fuchsia shade as soon as they are released - and I also really liked the formula of  the Full Metal eyeshadow (once I apply it in thin layers). I just wish it lasted a little bit long on me, but once I use a primer there's no issue. I really want to pick up the taupe shade!
These products are due for release on 27th May, I'd love to know which of these products you are interested in.

  1. I love YSL they have some gorgeous things, im not sure what I make of these sheer nail colours we've seen the last couple of years though, I prefer an opaque coverage.
