Current Loves #7 (November 2014)

This will be my last favourites post before my round up of the best of 2014. I will include any December favourites in my Best of 2014 post!
The favourites in this post are a collection of products I've been loving over the last two months, as I didn't get a chance to do an October favourites.

Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow
Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow
Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow - Link! I have wanted this product since it came out over a year ago. I recently met Charlotte Tilbury in Brown Thomas when she was here launching her new supermodel look. She suggested that I try her magic cream & the wonder glow. While I haven't invested in the magic cream just yet, I decided I needed the wonder glow in my life!
It is a golden iridescent liquid highlighter/illuminating base with gold micro glitter particles through it. I like to use a small pea size amount all over my face as a base between applying my moisturiser and foundation. When applied it leaves my skin feeling velvety smooth. I also thought it was worth mentioning that the product has a floral scent to it. Wonder Glow does exactly what the name suggests - it gives my skin a luminous glow & since my skin is somewhat dull & dry this time of year, this is the perfect product for me!

Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk
Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk
Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk- This is an intensive hydrating treatment- I use this instead of a moisturiser as the last part of my night time skincare routine. It has quite an oily texture when applied to the skin. The directions recommend using three to five drops however I apply a drop and a half to my face and neck (this is more than enough). It does take a while for the treatment to sink into my skin, which is why I only apply it at night - the following morning my skin feels softer, smoother and more plumped up. The directions again state it can be used day and night, but personally I think it's too oily for daytime use.

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Vera
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Vera
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Vera - Link! This is a raspberry toned pink shade - perfect if you want to wear a statement lip that's more bright than vampy, then this is the lipstick for you. It is extremely pigmented and has a gorgeous creamy texture. It lasts about two hours on me before I need to reapply. I like to apply one layer and blot, and then apply another layer over it.

Makeup Geek Mocha, Peach Smoothie, Barcelona Beach
Makeup Geek shadows (from left) Mocha, Peach Smoothie, Barcelona Beach
Makeup Geek Eyeshadows- There are three matte shades I've been loving recently to create a quick easy everyday neutral eye. They are Mocha, Peach Smoothie and Barcelona Beach. These are all gorgeous shades that last about eight hours when applied.
Mocha- Link! This is a neutral toned dark brown shade, it is very pigmented and has a smooth texture. I like to wear it in the outer corner to darken up a neutral eye.
Peach Smoothie- Link! This is a great peach transition shade. It's very pigmented. I've noticed this shade has a very powdery texture (this is something that I haven't noticed with any of the other Makeup Geek shadows). However once I tap off the excess on the brush before I apply it, it isn't a problem.  I like to use this as a base in my crease to warm up a neutral look. I also like to use it to blend out the edges for a smokey eye.
Barcelona Beach- Link! This is a cool grey toned brown shade. It has a very smooth texture but is not quite as pigmented as the other shadows - however, the colour is very buildable I have been layering this over Peach Smoothie to give my eyes some subtle definition.
Check out my detailed review of some other Makeup Geek eyeshadows here.

Nars Doucer Blush
Nars Doucer Blush
Nars Doucer Blush- Link! This is a rosey shade with a brown undertone and a subtle pink hue. It does have a very small amount of micro shimmer through it, however the shimmer doesn't transfer to the face. I find that this blush gives subtle definition but doesn't provide too much colour, making it perfect to pair with a smokey eye or a statement lip.

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick 107
Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick 107
Rimmel Kate Moss 107 matte lipstick- Link! This is a pink toned red lipstick. Although the formula is supposed to be matte I have found it doesn't go completely matte on me. It applies evenly to the lips and is very comfortable to wear - it doesn't dry out my lips and again lasts about 2 hours before I need to reapply. Check out the autumnal look I created using Doucer blush and this lipstick here. (These lipsticks are currently on 3 for 2 at Boots)

YSL Elle eau de toilette
YSL Elle eau de toilette
YSL Elle eau de toilette - Link! I love to wear this perfume in the Autumn/Winter. It is quite a strong warm scent. I'm useless at describing scents but apparently it's got top notes of lychee, peony and citron, middle note of jasmin, sambac and pink berries - and base notes of vetiver, pachouli and woody notes. If you like strong warm scents you'll love this perfume.

Chanel Rouge Noir
Chanel Rouge Noir
Dior Rouge Noir Nail Polish- Link! This is a very dark blackened red shade - it contains no glitter or shimmer, it's fully opaque in two coats and is not streaky. I like to wear a top coat to stop it staining my nails as well as my Seche Vite top coat to stop it chipping. (save 10% in Boots now).

Blistex Medplus For Lips
Blistex Medplus
Blistek Medplus Lipbalm- Link! This lipbalm has almost got a Vicks kind of scent and has a Vaseline texture. I like to apply it to my lips going to bed as it has quite a thick texture so I like to let it absorb overnight. I also had a cold this month and out of pure desperation I applied some to my very chapped nose, and it worked wonders! (This is currently on 3 for 2 in Boots).

Lindsey Kelk - I Heart Series- Link! I have read the whole series over the last year or so. There are six books in total (I'd recommend reading them in sequence). I downloaded the first four through the kindle app on my iPad and then decided to download the last two (which I finished recently) through audible. This is basically someone reading the book to you. It's a similar idea to the old books on tape, however instead of a tape you just pay for the download to your phone! I really like audible - however it is more expensive than just downloading the book itself.  The series chronicles the journey of an English girl in her late twenties to New York, and follows her as she makes friends, looks for a job and enters the dating scene.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what products you've been loving this month in the comments below.

  1. I really like that shade of nail varnish! I've been loving blood reds and dark purples for lips and nails this winter!

  2. I'm eager to get my hands on CT's Wonder Glow, too (it's on my Christmas list). I love using facial oils at this time of year and that Josie Maran one sounds intense enough for my dry skin, so I'm definitely going to try that out! Dark nails are my ultimate favourite at the moment and Dior polishes are some of the best!
