Current Skincare Routine

Current Skin Care Routine

I have normal to dry/sensitive/dehydrated skin, with a slightly oily chin. I'm always looking for hydrating products and love to layer my moisturizing products for optimum results.
The only time my skin really breaks out is when I use new products that aggravate my skin.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm

Firstly, to cleanse my skin I use Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm Link!. This balm is full of antioxidants and vitamins thanks to the moringa. The moringa also helps to purify and add luminosity and radiance to the skin. This cleanser also contains grape seed and neroli extract. These help to hydrate sensitive and irritated skin.
I scoop a small amount out of the tub and rub it between my fingers to melt it slightly. Then massage it into my face  turning it into an oil texture. I then remove it with a wet face cloth. The directions on the box say to add a few drops of water to the balm before massaging it. I find there is no need to add water to it before applying it. You can also use it as a mask and leave it on for approx. 15 minutes before removing it with a wet face cloth. This cleanser removes all makeup, including eye makeup. It is expensive but a tub lasts me about 8 months as you only need a small amount.

I then put a small amount of the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening toner Link! on a cotton pad and sweep it all over my face, making sure it doesn't get too close to my eyes. This is a gentle liquid exfoliator. I find this to be less harsh/irritating to my sensitive skin - as opposed to manual exfoliators (creams with little exfoliating beads in them). Again it is expensive but a bottle lasts me about 8 months

I then spray my face with REN Tonic Moisture Mist Link!. This is a hydrating facial spray. I spray this directly onto my face. I use this as the first layer of moisture for my skin

I then apply Hydraluron Link! - this is a hydrating serum, it contains a large amount of hyaluronic acid- this serum enables the skin the hold 1,000 times its weight in water. Over time this serum is said to increase the skins hydration level. It has a clear gel texture. I apply it all over the face (even around the eyes). When applied, it makes my skin feel slightly sticky and tight (but not dry) until I apply moisturiser. I have found I need to apply less moisturiser when I use this before hand. I also have had no dry patches since I started using this about 18 months ago.

Skinesis Sarah Chapman Eye Recovery Serum Link!. This has a light creamy texture - I use half a pump to both eyes. in the morning, I apply it from my optical bone to the outer corners of my eyes; while at night, I also apply it to my eyelids. It is said to reduce the appearance of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. I don't suffer with puffiness, but I have a few fine lines creeping in as well as dark circles. I've only been using it for a month, I'll have to use it for a bit longer to be able to see if it makes a significant difference to my dark circles. However, I do feel that it is hydrating my eye area. The serum contains peptides, antioxidants, vitamins and hyaluronic filling spheres that are said to provide hydration. They swell up with the water in the skin and plump out fine lines and wrinkles.

The moisturizer I am using at the moment is Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream Link!. I really like this moisturizer (I'm on my second tub of it). This has a light cream texture but is very moisturizing and almost leaves a velvety feel to the skin when applied. Again, you only need to apply a small amount. I thought it was worth mentioning the only negative for this moisturizer is that it does contain parabens.
I am constantly searching for a good hydrating moisturizer that doesn't contain mineral oil or parabens and has anti-aging benefits. This ticks all the boxes with the exception of the parabens (and so my search continues).
I have been using all of these products for about 18 months (with the exception of the eye recovery serum). Since I started using these products, I haven't had dry patches and my skin feels hydrated.

If you have any recommendations or suggestions of things I should try out, let me know in the comments below.

Please note I purchased all of the products mentioned.
I hope you have enjoyed this post and found it useful!

    1. I know what you mean, I can always see a difference in my skin if I don't use it. I definitely think it's worth it. :)
