Bioderma Atoderm Gentle Shower Gel & Nourishing Cream Review

I picked these up about six weeks ago. I have very sensitive skin & for the past 3 years or so I have suffered with hives on my body. I've been to see dermatologists about it, they said that as I have asthma I am more lightly to suffer with things like hives. I was prescribed cortisone cream to apply to any aggravated areas, as well as antihistamines tablets. I found that my skin was most aggravated after a shower. However once I applied the prescribed cream. the hives would eventually calm down and disappear. If I didn't apply the cream everyday the hives would reappear.

I was recently in Spain on holiday and and I ran out of cream, so I went to the pharmacy to pick up more. The assistant in the pharmacy was telling me how bad it is to use cortisone cream long term (it thins your skin). She asked my to try Bioderma Atoderm gentle shower gel and nourishing creme. This particular range is designed to deal with the causes of skin irritation - Since the first time I used it my skin is completely clear, no more issues!

The Shower gel cleanses and softens the skin, has a very light texture, it foams up a little once applied to the skin and has a very light pleasant scent. This shower gel contains a complex that helps to increase the skins tolerence threshold- making the skin less irritable. It's hypoallergenic for dry and sensitive skin and is soap and paraben free.
The shower gel contains sodium laureth sulfates (forming agent) - this ingredient can cause skin irritation for some people and for a long time I thought this ingredient might be irritating my skin. I tried sulfate-free products but it didn't seem to make any difference. However, I now know the sulfates weren't the issue considering my skin is now clear.

The moisturizer is for dry and very dry skin. It also contains a complex that  helps to increase the skins tolerance threshold - making it less irritable. It is fragrance and paraban free, hypoallergenic and is non-comedogenic (won't clog pores). It has a light texture and is easily absorbed. However I have found if you apply a lot of the product it does leave a slight film on the skin.

This moisturizer has mineral oil in it. There is both benefits and disadvantages to having mineral oil in skin care products. One of the major benefits of it in moisturizers is that it creates a barrier on the skin and prevents the loss of water from the skin (loss of water causes dry skin). Mineral oil moisturizes and softens the top layers of skins - however one of its disadvantages is that it doesn't penetrate into the deeper layers of skin (which is why I try and avoid using it on my face)

I don't know what caused my skin irritation, all I know is these products have completely fixed the problem. They have fast become absolute holy grail products for me that I will not be without, as they are the only non-medicated products I have found that have solved my skin issue.

I hope you found this review helpful. If you're experiencing similar issues to me please let me know any other products that have worked for you.
Please note I purchased all products mentioned.
